A Path Forward for Ellaism

Long time contributor sorpaas has formally proposed an upgrade path for Ellaism. As the detail and procedure may change through ongoing discussions, the best place to get the most recent information is in the GitHub discussion in the Ellaism Meta repository. You can also join the Ellaism Discord, where additional discussions will take place.

All Ellaism holders have a say in whether or not this plan will be executed.

At this time the voting process has 100% in favor of an upgrade for Ellaism. With that said, Sorpaas has conducted an Informal Vote in the Discord. The Question is "Which upgrade path do you prefer the most?"

He states the following and request your participation...

Keep status quo -- we should not change the blockchain vastly. This ensures that the blockchain is stable and safe. Continue to do EVM upgrades as hard forks happen on ETH1.x.

Upgrade Ellaism the same as how ETH2 is supposed to upgrade ETH1.x. This enables Ellaism to become its own beacon chain, and allows us to have whatever new features that is available on ETH2. In the mean time, this means switching from pure PoW system into PoS, and we probably cannot keep the current emission curve (we can still design the emission curve to mimic the current one or make it really similar).

Upgrade Ellaism as outlined in https://github.com/ellaism/meta/discussions/67. This is a new path that is not tried by any other blockchains. Doing this, we enable forkless upgrades and allow Ellaism to get new features (EVM improvements, on-chain democracy system, and other functionalities) at its own pace.
